i want to be like that when i grow up…

i love it when i see a “senior” person still running the race with passion.

it’s an honour seeing anyone run the race, but for some reason it inspires me more when i see a seventy-something or eighty-something still “doin the stuff”.

here’s some that have inspired me…

first:  white-beard dude.  (i can’t remember his name).  white-beard was over eighty  years old, & we were in a prayer team at nambassa… a woodstock style music festival in new zealand in the eighties.  white-beard would walk the 2 km’s to the festival each day.  one time i noticed him witnessing to a naked guy… yes totally starkers.  a while later i walked past again, & there he is still witnessing to the same guy.  go white-beard!

i want to be like that when i grow up.

second:  bob fulton, one of the original vineyard founders…  i heard him at urban vineyard, auckland, a few years back.  he just loved mentoring young people, teaching them how to do healings & stuff, like at petrol stations, just wherever people are.  he brought a team with him…  these were not kids from christian backgrounds, some were very recent converts.

bob didn’t try to dress cool to impress young people… he just loved people, loved god, & was still prepared to take risks.

i want to be like that when i grow up.

third:  geoff, who i guess is over seventy.  i am privileged to know geoff via a weekly mens group.  two weeks ago he shared about some healings… both geoff & his wife are doing a supernatural school of ministry.  he was out on a treasure hunt with a team, & the clues led them to an elderly women at a supermarket, hunched over her trolley.  long story short… this woman is healed of arthritic hands, then able to stand up straight for the first time in thirty years.   yay god!

i want to be like that when i grow up.

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Phil 3:14
